0. INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some distributions are now introducing application security frameworks such as
SELinux and AppArmor. These framewords are designed to protect against known
and unknown threats by providing features such as mandatory access control.

If you experience some peculiarities that you suspect to be related to the
beast that is AppArmor or SELinux, try disabling to establish if it is the
root cause or not.

1. APPARMOR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your distribution has AppArmor installed and is running you will need to
ensure MySQL has read access to the files on the local filesystem. This can
typically be achieved by adding the appropriate line to the mysql profile

For example on a Ubuntu system, add the following line to the mysql profile in
"/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld":
