Just now we had a MacOS user who wanted to install the voice-only Umineko mod, and wouldn't run
The problem: Can't open the application on mac/possible execute permissions?
Reproduction Instructions: .app file has a white no entry symbol, does not open.
Mod/Game history: Followed the Manual voices installation process on mac
Save information: n/a
Does the unmodded game have the same problem?: no
The game: Umineko 1to4
The mod variant: Voice Only
I bought the game at: Steam
My operating system is: MacOS
I installed the base game: Earlier this yeaer
I installed the mod: Manually
Mod Download and Install Date: Downloaded and installed today
Mod Options: n/a
State anything "special" about your computer's setup: m1 macbook
State if you've changed anything to try and fix the problem: tried chmod + in terminal
State if anything has changed recently on your PC: n/a
Antivirus Software: n/a
I remember having this problem in the past, but I don't think it was resolved. It could be related to them using an M1 Mac/newer MacOS version, but not sure if that is the reason.
I instead sent the user our fork of PONscripter to try out, which at least boots up and runs fine (for now).
I'll wait a little while to see if there are any issues, but I think we should replace all the MacOS exes with our fork of PONscripter (or maybe just the voice only versions?),
The same forked Ponscripter executable can be used for both the voice-only and full mod, due to the extra features Tellow put in for our mod.
TODO:
Update wiki manual installation links (for both voice-only and normal mods) to use our forked MacOS exe
