Supabase seems like a good alternative, should definitely give it a go.

I guess it all comes down to the architecture. I think a no-SQL database is more suited for the use case of a leaderboard. Unless there is more to be gained by using supabase other than it is open-source, we should just stick to firebase. More people are familiar with it and use it. It will make it easier for more developers to get involved.
