What happened?

Trying to craft planks with 2 birch slabs results in polymorph allowing you to craft a full birch log and a buzzsaw, in addition to the planks that were intended.

after playing further I had discovered it's possible with some other types of wood too

U can easily fix that, go to Mods menu and find Quark, then open config -> tweaks -> turn off "Slabs To Blocks" and reload minecraft
