Describe the bug

I'm suddenly unable to login on the website.
When I attempt to login, I presented a captcha, which I resolved, but nothing happens after that. No error message is shown.

I disabled any tracking protection I had, but nothing changed.

To Reproduce

Try to login with email+password

Expected behavior

Be able to login

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: FP5
  • OS: /e/OS 2.1 (AOSP 13)
  • Browser : Firefox
  • Version : 127

Additional context

Happens to the Android app (expo) too

Some clues, the app seem to answer to my login attempt by a 302 (Found), with a redirect to "https://alovoa.com/?auth-error" with no further explanation.

I could log in normally with a test account. Check your credentials and/or reset your password.

Credential are good, and stored in a password manager. I can't reset my password either, I get a 409 "Conflict" as answer.

According to said answer, my account is not found ("user_not_found"). But I was using it no later than a few day ago, did I get banned a way or another?

You shouldn't have been, try re-registering with the same email address.

Re-registering worked. Everything was lost but I least I'm able to log back. Let's hope it won't happen again.

Could it be linked to a bug introduced by this PR: #402 ?

Shouldn't be, unless you never confirmed your email address.

I confirmed my email address, but reading the PR further, I'm a bit uneasy. I'm a C# dev, but I find it a bit risky to purge without double-checking if the search query was indeed correct. Especially since I cannot find said search query in the diff.

I managed to get in touch with a previous match, she still see my old profile. So it wasn't deleted, but the apps seem unable to find it.

I might have the same error or it's a global problem?

I used Firefox (127.0.2) and now updated to 128.0.
When I try to login I get the captcha and after the Message
„Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es noch einmal.“ (An error has occurred. Please try again.). I get this error regardless if the captcha is right or wrong and it’s the same when I click „Password vergessen?“ (forgot password). The credentials are correct.
Wanted to try it in the English version, but if I set the language to English on the main page and click login, it goes back to German.

This started about 24h after I created my account. I created it last Sunday (7.7.24).

Thank you for any help.

Authentication is working for me. Try resetting your password.

Resetting still doesn't work.

I created the Account on MacOS 14.4.1. I now tried login and resetting the password via Manjaro Linux but sill no success. Same error as before or no error and nothing happens after the captcha.
I used these special charakters in the password: #, %, @ and "

Is the resetting tge password not a success or is logging in after resetting not a success?
If nothing works, I suggest simply deleting and creating a new account.

After the captcha while trying to reset the error message apears. It didn't send a mail either.
I would be open to create a new account, but how can I delete my existing one without logging in?

Thank you for your time!

Yes, simply go here: https://alovoa.com/imprint/delete-account-request

Thank you, but i don't received the e-mails, even though it said it would send one for the deletion request.
I could create a new account with a diffrent e-mail, so it would be easier to investigate if you want to. So far i didn't test the creation of a new account with the same e-mail.

In my case I just recreated my account with the same email, it worked.

I have kind of the same problem as @Dremor. Created the account yesterday. Can't get through the CAPTCHA

my problem looks somewhat similar.

It was some 3 weeks ago that I successfully logged into Alovoa last time. I didn't "log out", just closed tab/app.

I chatted via qutebrowser on desktop and checked for replies on Android app.

Today, I open qutebrowser, Alovoa remembers me and logs in, but there is only a spinner on "Profile", "Search" and "Likes" tab, and not even a spinner on "Chat" tab.

I tried logging in via Iridium and even (God forbid!) Chrome browsers. Iridium in incognito mode without any extensions. Chrome in vanilla state. In both, after captcha, An error occured. Please try again.

Credentials are right - I use lesspass.

Android app - it logged me out. I expect an app to never log me out, or else it loses any benefits - I will not enter my credentials each time into an app - smartphone interfaces are too inconvenient to use.

I tried logging in. No reaction upon tapping "Sign in" button.

I checked F-Droid - Alovoa is of the latest version.

I tried "Sign in" once more. After some unpleasantly long time, captcha and successfull logging in. I can use Alovoa app - Profile, Chat, Search, Likes - they all work as expected.

Checked Alovoa on desktop - still spinners in qutebrowser and An error occured. Please try again in Chrome.

I pushed an update (99740fd). Should fix authentication in the browser.

I have similar problems:

I opened an account yesterday, I clicked through/rejected all suggestions quite quickly (because almost all of them were several thousand kilometers away) until the "ketchup ran out". Then I changed the search criteria, whereupon Alovoa went into an endless loading/updating state and nothing happened. Since then I have not been able to log in. Not on the PC (Windows/Fierefox), not on the Android phone. I cannot reset the password (I don't get an email) and I cannot create a new account (with the same account data). In the meantime I updated to the latest Alovoa version, but that doesn't help. The login data is correct, I tried and checked it many times. I just get the message "An error has occurred" or nothing at all.

I use the German version.

ps: The captcha are half difficult to decipher, especially on the phone and certainly for anyone who doesn't grow up with Latin letters.

pps: It would be very helpful to include a search function that limits the distance, indicates a country or a city, but that is a different issue.

ppps: there are obviously a lot of fake accounts in the database.

I hope the information was helpful.

I have now managed to create the account again. I think I only entered two digits for my year of birth without a specific error message appearing. However, I was only able to use the account for about 30 minutes, then Alovoa started loading endlessly again without anything happend and since then I have not been able to log in again (PC and phone). During that time I have written to five or six accounts, is there a limit to the number of contacts allowed?

I have noticed something else, in the PC version I cannot use the submenu (3 dots top right). On the PC I use "NoScript" and then unlock manually. NoScript shows 2 blocks, only alovoa.com appears in the list, I have unlocked that, no idea what the second script is. But that is not the main problem.

Hope that helps.

Hi all. Is there a solution to this issue? I registered an account on 2024-10-17 and received an email indicating I confirmed the account successfully. However, I'm no longer able to log in, it always prints some generic error message. I cannot find a way to request a password via email either. What is the supposed procedure in this case?

I don't mind because it's only a test account (see https://codeberg.org/Nonononoki/alovoa/issues/7), but I'm still a little frustrated the login somehow broke.
