Weird interaction with whitespace-mode

There's actually no trailing whitespace in the following screenshots:

I think the blamer-min-offset variable is to blame here. Try setting this variable to 0

It would be great if this worked regardless of the value, though.

Also, the spaces in the commit message get overwritten with the whitespace-mode symbols, as you can see.

Not sure if this is something that can be changed or is inherent to the way overlays work.
