Have you tried this out on OptiFine? It wouldn't surprise me if this was an issue related to Iris to be honest.

I've had problems with shadow mapping caused by Iris before but haven't gotten any response from the devs when I contacted them about it. That's why I'm guessing Iris could be the cause.
