Expanding Burg Group Style Options

The trello board has "Settlement type and icon defined by population" and "Burg Icon editor to actually change shapes" I would like some similar functionality so I figured I would do it myself, but I wanted to get some feedback before I started since this is a larger change and I don't want to step on any toes.

What I want to do:

• Under the "Style" > "Burg Icons" have the option to change the icon for each group, I'll add a set of predefined symbols to choose from like: circle, square, diamond, triangle up, triangle down.
• Under the "Style" >" Burg Icons" have the option to enable "Size by Population" for each group, which will change the size of the icons to either 'small', 'medium', or 'large'. Users will be able to set the population cut off for each. When disabling the feature sizes revert to 'medium'. Color and shape would remain the same.
• Optional, personal pet peeve of mine: change the existing "towns" and "cities" group to something like "generics" and "capitals". The "generics" would have "Size by Population" enabled by default, with the 'large' being the same size as "capitals", the "capitals" group would have "Size by Population" disabled by default, and maybe default color set to yellow or something.

Things I still need to figure out/ decide on:

• How the "Size by Population" option will work with Labels, need to make sure it can't be applied to States or Added label groups, or ensure that it won't break anything if it does.
• Am I correct in understanding that all the group data exists only within the svg structure in the html page? and that whole "viewbox" structure is saved in the .map file and used to regenerate the groups on load?
• Find a way to make sure that the changes won't break older map versions.

@Azgaar any other tips or thoughts before I get started? Also how would I go about adding new symbols?

Hello. Sounds interesting, but I see pretty a lot of complexities here. Icons are pretty vulnerable, users may have custom groups and so on. So it should support migration from older versions. Icon position shift is defined automatically for circles via dy, but for other shapes it should be a manual control of it.

Yes, all data is in svg, expect of what is in pack.burgs. SVG is saved to .map file, so preserved.
