This page needs some cleanup.
This is a collection of requirements for face shields that was brainstormed by Chris. He is working on a weighting system for these criteria to help in making a decision on which shiled we should make as an "in stock" item.
- Shield protects face (particularly eyes) from cough/sneeze droplets
- Headgear fits a variety of head shapes/sizes
- Headgear is secure on head - does not move around when nodding, shaking, bending over
- Overall headgear + shield may be sterilized prior to use (need to know specific method(s) to be used in order to know if requirement met) Reuse? *Need space between face and shield? The 2 NIH-approved designs have some space
- Need shielding layer above the eyes between the mask and the face? The Budmen NIH-approved mask has this, and the Statasys has a very small gap further back that could be closed Or is getting as many as possible the most important thing? And other things above don't matter that much other than the first few things listed?
- Headgear Should be printable by the "assembled volunteers" quickly enough to meet demand. If we get enough "assembled volunteers", a longer print time may be OK. With few volunteers, a quick print time may be necessary.
- If the clear shield can be attached to different headgear designs, then we can have a common faceshield.
