Traitor Plastic Surgeon kills you if you change race

If you use the off-ship traitor (Ninja, Mercs, Pirates) plastic surgeon with having a lace, it explodes and you die

you arent supposed to die

Get a lace
go to the traitor plastic surgeon
change race
explode

As far as I can tell, the change for laces from killing you to reducing your skills has fixed this, I was unable to replicate it. Thankfully skills were not reduced:
