A low priority enhancement: but registering it here. Billy's bookworm had it once, years ago.
When you change the smoothing, instantly update the chart with the current data, since smoothing is done client side and doesn't require another call.
If this can be animated (possible in D3; I don't know about highcharts), it looks really cool.
