Use only selected video segment?

It would be great to be able to select a segment of a video to work with, instead of having to use the entire video, don't you think?
Many times I have to cut the video beforehand to later use it in the program with the consequent loss of quality due to the recompression of the video.

That's already planned as C0untFloyd stated somewhere, if I read right.
You can use LosslessCut to cut beforehand without re-encoding.

It isn't hard to process just a part of a video and I liked that very much about Rope (RIP). However I currently didn't do research on how to restore only part of the audio and I don't how to fit this into the UI without clutter. I'm putting this on the list of planned things
