Ideally, want to have a 3 year term as the default, but give supporters the option to instead select a 1 year if preferred

  • Add "term" option field with 3 and 1 as the options to the basket or checkout flow
  • Add this detail to forms send at completion of signup

Should the quotation system still show the yearly price or do you want it to show the price for 3 years?

It should still show the yearly price (i.e. it shouldn't sum up the years, as users will be likely thinking about this in terms of annual budgets)

@joedeville - we have a question about this.

Should the term length apply to the whole basket or should the user be able to select a different term length for separate items in the quotation?

If the latter, we need to revisit the specification and costing.

It would be the whole basket

This would also require the following changes:
Checkout

  • Adding a 'Term length' subheading, perhaps about 'Your Details'. Suggested text: "You can choose to support OBC initiatives for either 12 or 36 months. For 36 months terms, annual prices are fixed at the Annual Cost displayed above. By default, we request payment for subscriptions on an annual basis, however if preferred we can alternatively issue a payment request for the full subscription amount."
  • Beneath the subheading, a dropdown which allows the user to select either 12 months or 36 months. Defaulting to 36 months.
  • In the table that displays the Selected Offers, making the following changes:
-- Change 'Cost' to 'Annual Cost'
-- Add a column after 'Annual Cost' displaying 'Term Length'
-- Add a column after 'Term lenth' displaying 'Total Cost'
-- Use the total cost in the table that currently displays the 'Subtotal'

Contact details (i.e. after initial Checkout page

  • Change "Based on the institution information details you entered, your quotation is as follows:" to "Based on the institution information details you entered, and the term length you have selected, your quotation is as follows:
  • Change "Offers" to "Annual subscription cost:"
  • Add "Term" displaying chosen term
  • Add "Total subscription cost" showing the total for the term, followed on the line below by 'OBC Processing Fee'
  • Change "Total" to "Total, including fees":

Summary boxes

  • In the package summary boxes, changing the text from "12 month contract" to "12 or 36 month contract"
  • In the package summary boxes, changing the text from "Pricing £$$$$$ to £$$$$$" to "Pricing £$$$$$ to £$$$$$" per year"
  • In the initiative summary boxes, changing the text from "Pricing £$$$$ to £$$$$" to "Pricing £$$$$ to £$$$$" per year"

Pricing tab

  • In the 'Pricing' tab changing the 'Fees' header, to 'Fees, per year"
  • In the 'Pricing' tab changing the Contract Length bullet from "12 months" to "12 months or 36 months"

Quotation document

  • This would also need to be adapted, to display information similar to the revised Checkout page. Details to be worked out later.
