Comments
Comments can be added to a post on metasmoke to note any related information of importance. For example, they can be used to:
- Record the reasoning behind a specific feedback
- Discuss conflicting feedback (note: no-one gets notifications for new comments on a post)
- Link anything of relevance (e.g. other posts in a spam wave, similar spam posts, plagiarised sources)
- Provide translations of foreign language posts
Comments can be created in three ways: directly on metasmoke, via replies to SmokeDetector, and via custom reasons on manual reports:
Note: metasmoke review privileges required
At the bottom of the post on metasmoke (below the domains section), there is an 'Add Comment' button. Type your message in the text field and press the big blue 'Add Comment' button. Limited Markdown is supported.
Note: SmokeDetector review privileges required, and your metasmoke account must be linked to your chat profile.
If you reply to any report posted by SmokeDetector in chat, some or all of your message will be automatically added as a comment on metasmoke.
-
When adding feedback, all of your message after the feedback code will be taken as a comment.
e.g.
↰@SmokeDetector k Self promotion - no disclosure
will postSelf promotion - no disclosure
as a comment, and tpu- as a feedback -
Any standard (non-feedback/command) reply will add your entire message as a comment.
e.g.
↰@SmokeDetector This looks fishy
will postThis looks fishy
as a comment
Note that you must reply to the report itself, not the feedback message.
Note: SmokeDetector reporting privileges required, and your metasmoke account must be linked to your chat profile.
When manually reporting posts with the !!/report
command, the command has an option to supply a reason for reporting, so it's clear to others why you're reporting a given post or set of posts. The command works like this: !!/report [post links] "reason in quotes"
.
If you supply a reason using this option, it will also be posted as a comment on the resulting report (in addition to being placed in the why
reason).
Note that this does not work if the bot responds that the post has already been recently reported. In that case, your reason will be discarded, and you must use one of the above two methods to place your comment.
This also works with the !!/scan
command, which scans posts to see if they meet any of the spam checks: if you use the same syntax above to provide a reason for scanning, and the scan results in a report (i.e. the post triggers one or more spam checks), your reason will be posted as a comment on the resulting report.
Comments on a post will appear underneath the domains section and above the 'add comment' button.
The number of comments will also be displayed next to the post record in any lists of posts:
