To simplify the project and make it more approachable, we should go forward with @brylie's proposal to replace the current JavaScript codebase with a more standardized Django-based framework.

Original proposal from @brylie:

  • deprecate the "front-end" JavaScript codebase
  • use standard Django templates/views
  • use something like Django Unicorn 🦄 if/when dynamic page elements are needed (we don't need a whole JavaScript framework/SPA for a few dynamic page elements)

@AbhijithGanesh, I would have to understand a little more about this issue. Which files compose this Javascript codebase mentioned in the description?
