Custom Events

I want to make a custom event (using the default events system, an example event in it being the Camera Movement event) that displays text in a lyrics-like fashion, but knowing how scarce information is on most of the backend data, I'm not exactly sure how to do the main metadata part for it.

I'm using events so it is not done within the song script itself, which for me the latter doesn't really make it all that "optimized," to say the least.

How would I be able to do such kinds of events in this system and, if not possible, use some good alternatives to it that don't involve using song scripts?
