Just a wild idea: being able to link an item with a block (tile) so that it delegates to the block's capabilities would be interesting. You would for example be able to convert any in-world tank to a portable tank.

Two concerns:

  1. Would this have a range limit? How about across dimensions?
  2. This wouldn't just make any tank into a portable tank; it would make any tank into a portable ender tank. It would also let players effectively have unlimited ender chests.

I would not add a range limit.
I think this can be balanced using the recipe.

Alternatively, this item could be damageable or run on FE and take/consume damage/energy upon each usage (possibly taking into account the range).

Furthermore, it won't be exactly the same as ender chests for instance. As the player would still be required to make sure that the target is chunk-loaded, this is not something that this item should take care of.

Due to its potential OPness, it should probably be added to a standalone mod.
