So I have been playing DayZ since 2013.

I never liked the Hatchet but it is a necessary implement in dispensing with Zombies quietly. Right.

But the way it works it total rubbish.
Yes we have all had to come to terms with it BUT that does not mean it is any good.
In fact it's pretty shit.

A hatchet in close quarters should be the last word. It should not fail to hit it's mark.
It's a heavy slashing weapon, it is very hard to miss with one and a player who is amped
and focused should be able to battle their way through the horde with ease.

With an ideal hatchet the trick is to get close.
If you do then your target is simply dead.
No question.
Done in.
Fin.

The lethal distance should be 1 to 2 metres.
First hack stuns the second kills,
OR a head shot, which is uber dead in one hack.

The amount of time the "randomiser" has missed my target .... it's just super bad. NO!

I have heard the hatchet was modeled on a pistol with some major random aim variable thrown in.
This sounds about right from what I can see. But it has some kind of range weird action. FFS.

I can snipe zombies at reasonable distances with it, which is just BS. NO!

The worst thing is this: at very close ranges, say inside a building, you are quite likely to miss your target.
If they fidget about a lot, struggle and wiggle then the hatchet becomes really stupid. Just no.
It should be one hack and then they are seriously wounded or dead.
The second hack finishes them.

I know no one will ever do anything about this but I feel the urge to get this off my chest.

The hatchet needs an over haul.

Thanks!

Me.
