RML16AI - Slow response from UC Surface for FireWire connection #4
Comments
September 17, 2018 1:21 PMHi Roman, Thank you for getting in touch and we are sorry to hear about your issue. We are aware as per the release notes that some systems may experience lag over firewire. We recommend reading the latest release notes when our software is updated to see if your issue is resolved. You can find the latest release notes in your my.presonus.com account. Regards, |
September 17, 2018 1:55 PMThis note is there for years https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?f=222&t=25503&sid=a3819695476a265172596bc8f73b1903 ! Don't believe this issue is there? Go to your warehouse, get any mixer and try yourself on any mac. You'll find it. I cannot do anything useful with my system just reading this note. Can you provide some REAL SOLUTION THAT ACTUALLY WORKAROUND THIS ISSUE? I've proposed one. Should be rather quick to implement in software. |

September 17, 2018 2:55 PMHow to use WiFi Connection to UC 2.x on the same computer where FireWire is connected too? I'm waiting for real solution that works, instead of standard reply that you know about the issue. You know about it for a couple of years and nothing had been done yet. |

UC Surface is completely unusable over FireWire connection. Control response and meters update are really slow. I've tried Yosemite, El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra with latest available UC Surface 2.8 and 2.9. Over WiFi everything works fine. I've read about that bug on forums, and that it is reproducible on some systems. But I've tried 3 different machines with 4 different OSes installed. What makes this situation even worse, is that if the mixer has both FireWire and WiFi connection, UC Surface chooses FireWire as a default, so I absolutely cannot control my mixer during recording.
What the hell? I've payed a lot of money for the product, that I cannot use in studio! If you cannot fix this issue for a couple of years, please, at least let the users choose what connection to use for control - WiFi or FireWire. Or give WiFi connection priority over FireWire, if both connections are detected with UC Surface!
