Prior to the compatch, we had an uncrowned trait which was given to every uncrowned ruler that should be crowned. It had a vassal opinion malus. This was decent enough motivation to get crowned as soon as possible.
However, we no longer use such an uncrowned trait since fusing our coronation system with that of HF: we now only check for the absence of the various types of coronation traits. This works fine for HF, because they have a stacking opinion malus that adds -1 vassal_opinion every year for up to 30 years.
Unfortunately, rulers not covered by the HF coronation system (but covered by the EMF native coronation system) now have no direct and obvious incentive to actually get crowned ASAP. Sure, they're open to weak claims being pressed against them which otherwise wouldn't be permitted and various other such things, but that's not very motivating nor does the average player even know about that stuff.
Ergo, we should build a similar stacking vassal_opinion malus system, although IMHO, it should start at -10 and tick up from there rather than starting at 0 upon succession. The AI should probably be given a slight handicap here, because it really doesn't understand that coronation ought to happen at the soonest possible juncture and oft gets stuck in wars preventing it for a very long time. [If such handicap is created for the AI, it should be ported over to the HF coronation system too.]
