Welcome to the VariantX wiki!

VariantX is a reusable LaTeX Template for journals in the Humanities. It was originally developed for Variants (the journal of the European Society for Textual Scholarship) by Wout Dillen.

In this wiki page, the editors of Variants (Wout Dillen and Elli Bleeker) document their workflow for transforming multi-format submissions into LaTeX (and PDF), using the VariantX template and Overleaf. By making this documentation openly accessible, Wout and Elli hope that others may find it easier to (re)use the template.

NOTE

In this documentation, we use Overleaf to edit and compile our .tex files, because it is easy to use, free, and includes collaboration options. You are of course in no way obligated to use this software, and are free to just download the VariantX template from GitHub, and edit and compile files in your own, preferred LaTeX compilation software.
