If you're experiencing a crash on startup, here are a number of options to fix it:

1. Update Java. You should do this regardless.
2. In config/serializationisbad.json, change remoteConfigUrl to https://serializationisbad.dogboy.io/serializationisbad.json.
3. Update Serialization is Bad to version 1.5.2+ https://legacy.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/serializationisbad/files
