Two main changes-
First, before I add any certificate to the chain to be evaluated, I first perform a CRL check on that certificate.
Second, as I build the chain, I stop processing if I reach my trust anchor. This means that any certificates that may exist in the chain ABOVE the trust anchor in the hierarchy are ignored. The only exception to this is that I do still validate the CRL of the trust anchor.
