I like to focus on one activity at a time, and minimise multitasking. If I'm wearing headphones, it's probably to block out background noise (not your fault, I'm easily distracted 😛) RIP headphones.
The role I usually take in a team:
I like to brainstorm and feed new ideas into 'the process' at every opportunity. I'm a good facilitator - if there's a blank canvas and an open question, I'm your man! Also, I prefer to work in small teams. Four is a good size!
Something I've realised about myself over the last few weeks is that I need to get better at making quick decisions (see below). I tend to prefer to sleep on things and reflect in the morning. But, since time is a luxury that we don't have much of during the course, I'm think most effective when working with people who are more comfortable following their intuitions/snap judgments.
My communication style:
Listen first, ask questions later 👂
Indecisiveness may or may not be my biggest problem (😛) so I tend to phrase suggestions as questions. Indirect? Sure. Maddening? Quite possibly. But it's also a great way to stoke the fires of discussion.
What I value:
Honesty, positivity, and people who celebrate each others' success. I'm not easily offended (try me), so don't worry about dishing out feedback that'll help me do things better next time. I've already learned some neat things about myself on the course, and I'd like to come away from it with more self-awareness about my strengths and weaknesses.
What people misunderstand about me:
I'm hear a lot that I'm laid back/chilled out/calm, but on the flip side, I also wonder if people think I'm indifferent/disinterested/whatever.....meh. Ha. Jokes aside, my sometimes muted reactions betray the fact that I'm all about putting team goals ahead of my individual ones, and I do care.
Also, I get quieter as the day goes on. Put it down to fatigue and #introversionControl. You can normally pull me from origin slumber with a well-timed tea.
Also, I'm not fully human until after I've had my morning coffee tea (cheers to kicking the caffeine habit).
How I like to get my feedback:
After I've had my morning coffee.
Feedback is great, and if you can help me identify my blind spots in my own understanding of something, I'll be well chuffed.
Topics I'm Always Happy To Talk About
NBA, hip hop, stand up comedy, business/product ideas
