This is the very first release of MESA-py, a pipeline drawing inspirations from ecological diversity concepts and to allow for deeper and more quantitative measurements that delineate the functional and spatial shifts of tissues across different disease states. MESA employs a multi-scale diversity index, along with global and local diversity indices, to systematically quantify cellular diversity and identify diversity hot spots.
