Is your launcher blocked by your antivirus? I can't reproduce the issue and this error suggest that the launcher doesn't even get to connect to internet

No, I don't think so. Previous versions work fine as well.

This happens to me too, the launcher just keeps on loading the releases...

I keep having random issues at times, where sometimes I can update, others not. Some restarts on the launcher made it work, at other times I had to delete a backup or change settings for making them.
But right now, it just never finishes fetching and doesn't allow me to update. It seemed to get worse as the save game backup file size increased? At 300 MB (non compressed) it just doesn't budge, although I can read the new Change Log fine.

Going to try to remove the backup and see the results after a restart of the 1.78 version.
