The file docs/source/examples/lenna.png has several issues, in no particular order:

• It has copyright issues: it is not licensed for redistribution.
• Regardless of the intent in choosing it, its origin as a crop from a nude photo in Playboy magazine may contribute to perpetuating sexist and exclusionary aspects of research culture.
• Using the image as a test or sample image is reportedly inconsistent with the model’s current wishes.

Please consider replacing it with an alternative sample image that does not have these issues, and which is explicitly redistributable under a standard free/open license.

I would like to second this request.

The copyright issue alone is sufficient ground to prevent redistribution via package. For example, it has been necessary to exclude the file from the Debian package python-nixio source code and skip the associated test items test_image_data, test_image_with_metadata, test_multiple_rois and test_single_roi from checks steps. This ultimately hampers the quality assessement of the resulting package.
