I don't need an installer for a single self-contained exe file

I was actually just talking to Delta about this yesterday, as a matter of fact! It's something that I'm probably going to do, despite the disadvantages of it (no self-updating), but I want to add some code to the app to check for updates on its own for the portable version so I can at least alert the user of a new version being available.

wait does the one I installed with the setup.exe self update? does that just mean if I download the setup exe of a new version it will auto install in the correct location or will it completely autonomously just update itself?

Yes, the installed versions are self-updating. At launch, it checks for an update and prompts you for whether you'd like to install it if there is one available and shows you the release notes.
