Problem saving the position of panels in Debian

It seems that GO does not save the position of the panels correctly when placed in a second monitor: every time you close and open again GO places both panels in the first monitor and you have to move it manually.
I use the grandorgue-wx32_3.15.4-1_arm64.deb version on a Raspberry PI5
In the windows version grandorgue-3.15.4-1.windows.x86_64.exe this problem is not present

What graphical stack are you using in Debian: xOrg or wayland?

Wayland does not allow applications to manage their positions, so I can do nothing with GrandOrgue.

I found this in the release notes of the Raspberry Pi OS with desktop - Release date: November 19th 2024 - System: 64-bit - Kernel version: 6.6 - Debian version: 12 (bookworm):
2023-10-10: - Desktop now runs on the Wayfire Wayland compositing window manager on Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 platforms; on X11 using the openbox window manager on older platforms
Does this means that there is no way to save the position of the panels and that it's the same is for other softwares?

Yes, it does.

It was intended that a wayland compositing software would save positions for all windows applications and then open them at the saved position. But for now no compositors implement this functionality.

I am not a programmer, so unfortunately I do not understand what this implies. Is it possible that soon the compilers will have this functionality? in which case an OS upgrade will be needed for Raspberry? or a new version of Grandorgue? I apologize for the question which may be trivial....
I am getting really impressive results with Raspberry and its sound cards, and there are so many possibilities, especially now that the version with 16GB RAM is out.
Grandorgue allows you to customize graphical interfaces in a way that no other software can do so quickly, and it's a shame that one can't takes advantage of two monitors at once, especially now that I've managed with a patch to have the touch screen work independently on 2 monitors.

Yes, it is possible, but itisnot probably in the next 10 years.

In the case if some desktop manager (gdm, kdm or some another) provides the capability of remembering the window position based on it's name (with the application name) and of placing the new window at the remembwred position, you will have to

• install this desktop manager (or upgrade you existing oneif it gives this capability)
• switch to this desktop manager

or a new version of Grandorgue?

It depends on the addition requirements for using this capability. May be there noany will be be any, or may be some will be. In the second case we will have to make some changesin GrandOrgue and you will have to upgrade it also.

It is possible in the Raspberry pi configuration program (I think under advanced options in the terminal based
raspi-config program) to revert back to x11, which should allow grandorgue to set panel positions as before.

But x11 is a deprecated graphical stack and it will be removed soon from the distributions. So this workaround is just temporary.

Thank you very much for pointing me at this David, it was very easy to find that option, and it works. I hope that it will be not removed, because as far as it is needed for the use with grandorgue x11 is ok.
