The ExactTarget integration does not change campaign member status based on email stats. This means that clients using ExactTarget won't see click-through data represented as engagement. I don't think there's a way to generically control for all email platforms but ExactTarget is being used by many clients at this point and would be highly valuable to them.

While I could see this being useful in theory, so far none of our clients have had a different engagement level for those who view an email vs. those who click through. I don't think Chris/Karen are advising most clients to set it up that way. Generally, someone who's just on the email list is a Follower. In order to go to a higher level (Endorser, Contributor, etc.) you have to do more than click through - you actually have to do what the email was asking - sign the petition, make the donation, RSVP to the event, etc. When you do that, we''ll end up w/ records in SF that will bump up the engagement score.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking of the older model where clicks were counted. EPC still does do that but it's also one of the only things they can measure. Probably not too important to worry about.

The Engagement Party 2012. So much more fun than the wedding reception.
