index column needs to be string

Hi! I noticed that when the index column for the gene expression data is not a string, the pipeline runs, but for some reason, when you look at the logging files, you can see that no genes are considered differentially expressed.

For now my workaround was to change my gene expression files so that the index is string, but I wanted to put this on here
