What is the preferred way of arriving at a feature/pullrequest

Hi all,

I was wondering about what the most productive way is to create a pullrequest for the project. This is a question because I have just created one for this project myself. But I know maintaining this extension is not a fulltime job for anyone, I can imagine that "unsolicited" pullrequests are a difficult to judge and merge with the main branch.

So what I want to know is, how can someone (like me) have an idea that he/she is able to transform into a pullrequest start this journey?

• Should you start in the discussions section with this new idea under "Ideas"?
• Should you create an issue of type "Feature request" and then continue to implement it?
• Or should you just (like I did) start coding the idea and present it as a pullrequest?

All three the options have a way of discussing the reasons behind the feature.

Any thoughts, ideas or general musings?
