i get that python3-crypto and python3-cryptography are different, but just using it as a comment, the question remains of how to avoid the dependency? or get the thing installed.... |

Did you follow the instructions here: https://docs.jans.io/v1.2.0/janssen-server/install/vm-install/ubuntu/#ubuntu-2204 Why are you using the ubuntu 20 |

Yes those are the instructions, but as i mentioned, the link to the package is invalid in the doc so I just took one from the latest release (and didn't see that it wasn't for u22, my bad).
But will that solve that issue about python3.crypto? Doubtful right?
I will try it, that was stupid of me

fresh copy of ubuntu 22( desktop), up to date, installing with ./jans_1.2.0-stable.ubuntu20.04_amd64.deb (fyi docs pointers are wrong for release and sha file)
sudo install gives:
jans : Depends: python3-crypto but it is not installable
but python3-crytography is verified as installed
python3-cryptography is already the newest version (3.4.8-1ubuntu2.2).
Hint?
