I've just updated to last version and I see that onion messaging now is default.
but I don't understand what happens in reality.
Is it ok behaviour?

I get error We failed to connect and handshake with ANY directories; onion messaging is not functioning. Didn't I something configure properly?

See #1435, unfortunately it's a known issue with the onion directories.
You can find more directories here, but note that they might eventually experience the same problem as more and more people use them.

IRC is on by default, and the various message channels are designed to be redundant, so everything should still work.
Check the offers in the orderbook to verify.

Have been getting this error also. It seems to prevent the tumber from proceeding... the tumbler just sticks waiting to connect to onions.

@rabutial Are you using the last JoinMarket version? Have you removed IRC?
There should be a timeout after 60 seconds or so and you should see an error message like "failing to handshake with ANY directories".

It worked eventually, I guess it was just taking a while. Still keeps flooding the log with onion errors though.
