Hey guys, I think this probably has already been asked, but I took a look at the discussions and the FAQ/wiki and couldn't find about. But is it possible to run the card farming without couting to total playtime in steam?

If you want a slightly more elaborate answer: cards are "dropped" by Steam based on playtime -- thus, if you're not adding enough playtime for Steam to give you the next card, there will be no card "drop".

In fact, bots like ASF do pretty much nothing specific for their card farming -- they just tell Steam that you're playing the game, so it counts playtime, so it gives you cards. Anything else that a bot does is merely trying to automate and optimize this a bit, but the core of every card farming is always a simple "I'm playing the game xxx" message to Steam, which inevitably adds to your playtime.
