The verification process

Currently, we have a verification process in place in our Discord server through which we can identify JIITians and their respective year of study.

This is achieved through sending an email to the institute provided email-id of the member who has requested the verification. The sent email contains a verification-code that the member then has to enter. This is a time-bound process and the member gets banned on 3 unsuccessful attempts (since this process can lead to spamming).

Other methods which we unsuccessfully tried to implement:

• Asking the user to send an email to a specified email id and then listening for it
  • using a tool like Integromat (didn't meet our requirements)
  • using Gmail API
• Redirecting the user to a page where Google sign-in is possible
