I'm not able to reproduce this? Are you looking at wiki.php?action=categories&cid=1?

Also, swap to the default theme and check if the issue appears there?

Yes I am looking at wiki.php?action=categories&cid=1.

I will try to test it with the default theme as well :)

Ok I have found the issue. For any reason template "wiki_category_desc" contained:

<div class="alert-message">
   <p>{$category_desc}</p>
   <p>{$category_desc}</p>
</div>

I... have no idea how that happened. Do you get the same issue on the default theme?
