At the beginning is it necessary to start mentioning "this repository"? In the case it is not, it may be better to start with something like "This project is..." or something that tell us what are we looking how and why is it different.

It would be useful for people who don´t fully understand this to have a small explanation image of what exactly fiber coupled illumination is.

The 3D models are in the ipt format, it would be better to have them in a more compatible way to other programs can still open it, like stp-step or even the onshape file

The part of "As an open collaborative project, we warmly welcome your participation. Please feel free to leave comments, provide input, and make contributions by submitting your message as an issue in this repository." may be better at the end of the repository and not at the beginning of it.

This is unnecessary, you could just put "montage with labels" and in the lower right side the specification [This is not the final montage yet].

There is no general description, specifications, configuration, usage nor contacts. Just the titles.

This is better to have it empty than with that kind of "to do" information.
