Does FreeVD work for anyone in Windows 11?

I'm able to install it, but trying to load it nothing happens, and Event Viewer shows it crashes.

Same here. Pity, as this looks like just what I've been looking for for years.

It doesn't look like there is any solution for Win11, although I haven't looked for a few weeks. I think the best outcome would be if the Microsoft PowerToys project includes such a tool. I think I may have made a feature request for it, but not sure.

Any particular reason why you don't make a PR for those changes?

How do I compile it? I can't find it using scoop and I don't use chocolately. I would rather compile it and make an installer if possible.

Oh.
I haven't noticed that "build" folder was in ".gitignore".
I removed this rules and commited compiled version.
You can just download folder and start using it

People having issues here or want the main program, you might want to move back to the original zVirtualDesktop. @mzomparelli decided to make it free back recently.

As I write this, if you go to its repository: https://github.com/mzomparelli/zVirtualDesktop/
Check the README.md and it will give you a link to download the updated free version. You can get the default .exe, or you can get a build made for specific version of windows if the main one doesn't work for you (I am a slow adopter still on Windows 10, but he has Windows 11 specific builds).

Extra information:

  • He is planning to work on a v2 which will be open source back.
  • His Patreon if you want to support him: https://www.patreon.com/zVirtualDesktop
  • Since some hired developers, contributed to make this work, etc. you might want to check his repository (star it?) and we can probably contribute to the new version, give feedback, etc. ;-)

I've been using SylphyHornPlusWin11 for the last few months. It works well, but the latest mainline Windows 11 update has broken it. I'm sure it will be fixed soon.

I have tired from paying to freelancers for updating freevd and I decided to develop my own application.
I'm newbie and this application is not ideal.
But if you want, you can try it:
