[ISSUE]: 70012 Issue with DDR 4th Mix (PS1) #225
Comments
All these games doesn't work without CMOS battery, so the problem is not related to the mechapwn. |
DDR games highly depend on correct date and time. So you should replace battery and set correct date, otherwise it will raise an issues that you describe. It doesnt matter if you have mechapwn or not, original discs will act the same way. |
I replaced it and set the time, 4th Mix still goes to a black screen. In training mode it loads fine, so I know the disc itself isn't damaged. |
Hmm interesting, seems that this game has region protection. Did you try to launch it with DKWDRV ? |
Also it seems this game require specific burn method: https://www.reddit.com/r/ps2/comments/1e19x4g/comment/ld12pma/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button |
This is an official retail version, I didn't burn it. I tried DKWDRV and it has the same issue as normal booting (black screen after choosing a song). |
As this is non-standart game, you should look in advanced DKWDRV settings, like forcing Jap region or something similar. |

Describe the issue
I've installed 3.0RC4 onto my 70012 and it seems to work. Retail (Not backup) PS1 games boot fine. Only DDR 4th Mix has an issue, which goes to a black screen when selecting music.
But after I've powered off the machine (and unplugged it) for a while it will start to have problems with more games. DDR 3rd Mix won't load the title screen, and DDR 5th Mix goes to a black screen when selecting a song. Other DDR games have similar problems.
I have to copy the nvram from my computer to the SD card, then restore the backup, then re-apply Mechapwn before it will work again. Restoring the backup without copying it from the computer will cause no change.
I've googled these issues and I was pointed to APv2 as why these games fail like this, but I'm not sure that's the issue.
My CMOS battery is dead (The new one arrives next week) in case that matters.
