Someone needs to make a page for what each core is named and what that name actually is so that filters can be made easily. #45
Comments
It's in the README of distribution_mister itself: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Distribution_MiSTer |
You can see there that Super Nintendo is matched not only by sufami, but also by SNES, supernes, superfamicom, and supernintendo. Let me know if you have any other question |
If somebody wants to add more documentation, please send a PR here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Distribution_MiSTer/blob/develop/README.md The core aliases are here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Distribution_MiSTer/blob/05c3604d349dd274ab794a32be8eba83d987295f/.github/db_operator.py#L309 In principle, I added the common and unambiguous terms for these systems as aliases, so that extra documentation is not needed. Extra documentation requires extra maintenance obviously, and maintenance time is limited. But if somebody wants to improve upon that, it's welcomed. |
I can see how it would be problematic for MiSTer main to keep track of any and all cores that 3rd party developers might make. |
I'm closing this for now. If someone want's to put the work, feel free to ping over here again. |
I was trying to create filters for download.ini and couldn't find a proper reference for what each core is named. I couldn't figure out what core I was including that was removing "Super NES", it was "sufami" BTW, but also it needs to be made clear what filter impacts what core. Case in point, segamark3 will remove mastersystem like sufami will remove SNES.
Let me help with the effort. Can someone please put this in the documentation somewhere so it's easy to find.
