Castlevania III - Flickering when jumping #343
Comments
I can't reproduce this in either japanese or american versions of the game. Check your rom and rom header for accuracy. |
Hmm, I completely forgot that I was using a Japanese rom for the audio but with a translation patch. I'm kinda new to rom checking and whatnot, what should I look for in particular? Thanks |
with a rom hack there's not really any way to verify that the game is set up or behaving correctly unfortunately. Can you link to this particular rom hack on romhacking.net? |
That makes sense. I actually got it on CDRomance, but here is the link: https://cdromance.com/nes-roms/akumajou-densetsu/ |
even using the patch you've linked I still can't reproduce your issue with white flashing when moving, jumping, or whipping. Are you sure you're using an up to date NES core? |
Release 20221002, I run the updater script at least twice a month but I did recheck to make sure I wasn't behind. Maybe I'll try redownloading the patch and running it. Just to check, you're using the "Akumajou Densetsu - English 7.1" download right? Are there any core settings that could possibly cause that I should look at too? |
Oh, addendum: I did find it only happens if you jump while the screen is shifting in some way, so if you're walking forward and the background is moving with you, then you jump. It won't flicker in static rooms. |
I think i'm going to need a video recording or save state. I've made it through several levels and still can't reproduce this. |
When you move and jump in Castlevania III, I've noticed the whole screen flashes white. I notice this happens on many software emulators but it's not something that happens on actual hardware.
Any ideas what settings could be causing it? It's really distracting.
