The affection system revamp from 2 years ago is still pretty neat

Well, aside from some things subtracting too much affection now, and some things that normally result in less than a point of gain can possibly result in no gain now. Some of that stuff might change in the future. But otherwise it's a much more interesting system than before. Learning about it in these last 2 years has been interesting, and it has given me added incentive to keep playing MAS.

I have to think that some things might have been done specifically because, or in other words "for" players that look at the affection log. I mean, I don't know why else the change in values would be changed to be somewhat random (I know, it's not entirely random and things balance out), other than say to make it more difficult to abuse the daily cap limit. Actually, you could say this gamifies the whole thing more and encourages looking at the log more, but doing so may encourage more variety in your actions in-game, which you could argue is a good thing. But what this also does is make things seem a little more realistic, instead of the same action always giving the same exact value, or the daily cap always being exactly the same, and possibly encouraging some variety in your actions. But, you wouldn't know or be able to fully appreciate this unless you actually looked at the log or code.

Learning how much higher or lower the values can change or seeing how many times you can get above (or below) the average increase in a row has also been interesting. Recently I got 10 above average increases in a row, some substantially above average, and it feels nice when this sort of thing happens. Affection carrying over into the next days in some cases is also neat (even if it wasn't necessary before), and gives more reason to keep playing. It's also nice to know that certain actions don't go uncounted, including hugs when Monika asks for them now.

I have thought about many of these things for quite some time, and thought it was about time that someone showed some appreciation for the newer affection system.
