Today, the 6th February 2017 is the 5th anniversary of my 1st Moodle job at the University of Nottingham and the eve of my 52nd birthday. Finding myself at a bit of a loose end with not much on the horizon, I thought it might be interesting to have a look at integrating QuickForms2 with Moodle 3.2.
There has been some discussion on the matter – see https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=200124 previously and one of my recent projects highlighted the need for a more flexible forms library in Moodle. However, aiming for QuickForms2 seems like a better option than attempting an all new forms library but we shall see.
There is a danger, of course, that a nice juicy contract fingers crossed hard will materialise and be a distraction or even put a stop to this madness so I will make my changes available via my this [github repository] (https://github.com/Mukudu/moodle-quickforms2) in case there is another nutter out there to pick up the mantle should I fail to complete.
The plan is to start by not breaking current functionality so that all current 'good' plugins using formslib continue to work. That to be followed up by extending it, formlib2 anyone, so that the limitations currently inherent in the forms functionality can be overcome and maybe I can incorporate some of the bootstrap features I so love. New plugins can then be able to use the newer functionality.
This is a 'Proof Of Concept' project so don't expect much and be gentle with the comments :)
