I just noticed that the ranged attack column does not treat thrown spears as ranged attacks for the purpose of +1 to Ranged Attacks and Damage, nor does it allow me to use Dexterity for the purpose of throwing the spear either. As you can see, it doesn't apply the +1 to damage, but it does apply the +1 to attack rolls.

As per the latest core rules PDF. Thrown weapons can use STR or DEX bonus when attacking at range.
