Personally, I group LIF together with other Bio-Formats dependent file types (in the sense of reading them), since many users have those and are familiar with their handling or at least the characteristic of contained series.
I cannot comment on OME-Zarr
Some file formats can contain multiple images:
LIF
,OME-Zarr
, are there others?Should they be taught separately?
Dealing with them in practice in my experience requires special skills.
