Gaussian Splatting New Features Investigation

In late July 2024 the Inria authors published a new paper which allows for chunking of very large point clouds to greatly increase scene sizes. For instance, you can now go from a single chunk the size of your room to a a 2km^2 city. There were also a bunch of other nice secondary features added in the latest release. The team could investigate to see if any of these features could benefit the project and their feasibility.
