pages root gives 404

While the documents are created and uploaded to pages successfully, no index.html file is created, so the projects homepage:
https://osegermany.github.io/git-internals-doc/
does not work.

I have a script I could plug in, that just generates an ugly index of all the files.
I think that is good enough, because... I would not make a nice site just for this one PDF file and a link to the HTML (where most people should be reaching directly, instead of through that page).
