Update the /gsoc page add the pre-selected student placeholders and this years mentors #3380

Hi @DonnieBLT, I have some questions regarding this: I understand the point about the Fund, but will these four students be officially part of GSoC? Will they receive a GSoC certificate like the other six students, and will they be equally part of the project, or is this just a contract? Also, I am from India—if I get selected, will I receive $3000 or $1500, since Google's official stipend for a medium-sized project is $1500? Additionally, what does "add the pre-selected student placeholders" mean? Have some students already been selected? Thank you! |

Add this text and a link to the owasp donate page (with BLT selected)
Last year, BLT had six students, and it was a fantastic experience. This year, we plan to support 10 students. However, we understand that GSoC may only allocate funding for six students.
To ensure that all 10 students selected by us receive the $3,000 stipend they would typically get from GSoC, we are organizing a community fundraiser. Our goal is to bridge the gap for any students not funded by GSoC.
Here’s how it will work: Any funds we receive will be distributed equally among the remaining unfunded slots. For example, if four students are unfunded and we raise $10,000, each of those four students would receive $2,500. If we exceed the $3,000 per-student target, any additional funds will go towards an internship hiring fund, which will allow us to offer extended opportunities to these students beyond the program.
We appreciate any support in helping us provide opportunities to more students! And then next to it have a table of donations say that we have $1000 from an anonymous source and $8400 from owasp potentially that we are working to secure based on previous GSOC Mentor stipends.
