The ability to do Shift-number is also useful.

But I think it would be preferable to keep shift on Alt key. This means removing the Esc to base from Alt key, leaving only AltGr key for Esc to base.

Shift-number is possible using the numrow layer, so I don’t quite understand what problem you are trying to solve here 🤔

I have a ergonomic keyboard without numrow layer so I’m used to use the numpad layer instead. I’m also using the numpad layer instead of the numrow on my laptop with kanata to keep the same habits than with my ergonomic keyboard.
Another reason to use the numpad is the proximity of the keys compared to the numrow, which is fully in the philosophy of arsenic.

And the problem with the numpad is the same as for the funpad: when locked, the Shift key becomes an Esc to base key. But I think it would be better to keep the Shift key to do Shift-number and Shift-Fn as stated before.

I’m not referring to the physical numrow but the one implemented as a kanata layer: https://github.com/OneDeadKey/arsenik?#num-row--num-pad

Thanks to that layer, typing S-[1] is a simple matter of sym-num-[Q].
